ZeniMax Media sues Oculus Rift
Oculus Rift no more?
Just when you thought that things couldn't get more twisted in the case with Oculus Rift. ZeniMax Media decided to sue Oculus Rift. Because ZeniMax claims that it´s intellectual property was used to develop the Oculus Rift headset.
And as we all know. Facebook bought Oculus Rift for 2 Billion dollars back in March. So things can change very quickly now. Because IF ZeniMax wins in court. They can actually shut down the whole Oculus Rift project.
Unless ZeniMax and Facebook come agree on some kind of settlement outside (or inside) the courtroom. Anyhow, i found some really good comments on this subject on the Guardian article. Check em out!
"Zenimax is just looking for another revenue stream since they dropped the ball with Elder Scrolls Online... Here's an idea! Try giving consumers what they actually want instead of trying to force garbage down their throats for subscription fees." - Paul Thomas
"There is a bit more to it than that. Both parties were negotiating a 2% cut from future profits ages ago, but Oculus broke of negotiations, plus Zenimax were mounting a legal challenge waaaay before Facebook got involved.. Great article below: In short, Zenimax have one hell of a case. http://www.polygon.com/2014/5/21/5739064/zenimax-sues-oculus-vr" - bubblecup
