Capcom are working on a Resident Evil spinoff
Will Capcom be able to save the Resident Evil series from it´s own doom?
New rumors point at Capcom is set to unveil a new Resident Evil game at E3. Amidst the hype, we found a little insight on what may be happening with this particular title.
The tip was picked up by NeoGAF (via loadthegame), and claims we will not be looking at Resident Evil 7, but a spin off in the likes of Resident Evil Revelations, and Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City.
Appartently the game will feature three returning characters; two female and one male. Two of them haven’t been seen in over a decade, while the third has only been mentioned in past titles, and never actually appearing.
Given the fact two of the mystery protagonists haven’t been seen in over a decade, this leaves us with a number of options: Barry Burton, Billy Coen, Claire Redfield, Carlos Oliveria, and Rebecca Chambers, Ashley Graham, Agent Hunnigan and Steve Burnside (The Resident Evil archives lists his status as "Unknown" not dead).
While it isn’t uncommon for Capcom to announce spinoff’s to keep us all satisfied until the main course comes along, I do hope that this particular title fares better than Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City. If we are looking at other members of the S.T.A.R.S returning, it would be very awesome to see what they have been up to for 10 years.
