It´s THE Amiga book of Amiga books. A real beast, so to speak. So i was not surprised to hear that the book has already reached it´s Kickstarter goal of £25,000. In fact, so far the Commodore Amiga book has collected over £57,000!
And there´s still 23 days left on the campaign. So i think it´s safe to say that people still love and care about the Amiga. And who knows how much more cool stuff the Bitmap Books team will add to their Amiga book campaign?
Welcome to my Kickstarter campaign to design and produce a book all about the Commodore Amiga. Unlike other books, Commodore Amiga: a visual Commpendium will focus on the visual side of the computer; from in-game pixel art to game maps to box artwork, the book will be crammed full of beautiful high-resolution, full-colour imagery.
My years of owning an Amiga were some of the fondest gaming memories I have: from the endless hours sunk into Monkey Island and Premier Manager to running home at school lunchtime to boot up X-Copy, the Commodore Amiga played a huge part in my life, and still does to this day. The chance to design this book is hugely exciting for me.
A MUST have book for everyone that lives video games.
I have been a fan of Guinness world records for many, many years now. But there´s one certain part of Guinness world records that i like more than anything else. And that´s the area that concerns video games and Gaming.
High scores, speedruns, you name it! I just find it really entertaining to see (and read) about people who tries to break world records in the world of Gaming. Take the Super Metroid speedrun world record for example. Behemoth finished the game in 43:46 minutes!
That´s freaking insane! My best time is just below 2 hours. Anyhow, the Gamer edition of Guinness world records 2015 will soon be released worldwide. In fact, it´s set for a release on the 11th of November. And you can pre-order the book via Amazon for as low as $10,30.

THE ultimate C64 computer games book.
There are quite a few C64 books on the market. But when it comes to C64 games. I´m quite sure that Bit Map Books "Commodore 64: a visual Commpendium"book. Are the best of the best. I mean, it contains 200 pages of C64 Gaming eyecandy, and every single page are beautifully illustrated to perfection.
So i was not surprised to hear that Bit Map Books collected over £35,000 for their book via Kickstarter (the campaign was successfully funded in May this year). And if that's any out of interest. Then you can pre-order Commodore 64: a visual Commpendium for £25 (plus shipment costs) via Funstock.
Last night i heard about a really good book series with a video game theme. And the homepage that sells them just happens to be named "Boss fight books" (created by Ken Baumann and Gabe Durham). That´s a very suiting name really.
Considering the fact that they sell books based on video games such as "Chrono Trigger" and "Earthbound". So what does the books cost then? About 5 dollars. So it´s a really good deal really =)
"Boss Fight Books, founded in Los Angeles in June 2013, publishes great books about classic video games. Each of our books will take a critical, creative, historical, and personal look at a single game.
Some books will be about the history of the game’s creation, some will focus on particular elements like level design, story, and music, some will investigate the subculture that has formed around a game, some will bring in outside art, science, and media, and some will have a strong autobiographical element. Many books will be a combination of all these things.
Who are these books for?
Anyone with an interest in games. An interest in how they’re played, how they’re made, how they’re talked about, who they’re for, what gaming does to/for us, their opportunities as an art form, where they’ve been, and where they are going. We think games are worthy of our respect, curiosity, and criticism.
How are the books be released?
Each book is released simultaneously in paperback and as an DRM-free ebook (epub, mobi, and pdf)."
"Despite the recession, video games continue to break records—and command unprecedented amounts of media coverage. The U.S. is the world’s biggest video games market and manufacturer, with a market now worth over $20 billion annually in software and hardware sales—more than quadruple its size in the mid 1990s. World of Warcraft now boasts over 11 million players worldwide, and over $1 billion per year in revenues.
Gaming is flourishing as a career and a creative industry as well. 254 U.S. colleges and universities in 37 states now offer courses and degrees in computer and video game design, programming and art. Video games are increasingly for everyone: 68% of American households now play computer or video games, while the average game player is 35 years old and has been playing games for twelve years.
Against the popular image, too, 43% of online U.S. game players are female. The U.S. military alone now spends around $6 billion a year on virtual and simulated training programs, based around video games and virtual worlds. The budgets for developing the biggest games can now top the $100 million mark and are snapping up some of the biggest names in film—from Stephen Spielberg to Peter Jackson."
